Kate Mathers is the Principal Mindfulness Trainer at the Institute of Executive Coaching and Leadership (IECL) based on Sydney, Australia. Kate discovered the transformative power of mindfulness to promote resilience and restore physical and emotional health and wellbeing during a period of illness, a decade and a half ago. Since 2002, Kate has been passionate about bringing mindfulness and MBSR to all who care about looking after themselves and others – in both the public and corporate domain – and has taught courses with groups, in schools, and by private consultation.
Kate has trained with Jon Kabat-Zinn (the founder of MBSR) and Saki Santorelli (Director, Centre for Mindfulness, Uni. Massachusetts Medical School), and with Openground, in association with the Centre for Mindfulness. She believes that research is increasingly revealing that MBSR training – an experiential, transformative method of engaging with life – nurtures deep inner resources and cultivates an essential skill set needed if we are to respond effectively and flourish in the ever-increasing challenges of this relentlessly fast-paced 21st century life.
