October 29, 2019 - December 10, 2019

A supported community exploration for contemplative teachers

Click here to register for this program

This community journey is for anyone considering beginning a heart-centered business or wanting to grow their existing business. The components of the program are:

personal study of a curriculum of material in your own time,

exploration of that material via an online discussion board, and

a one-hour community Gathering online to discuss the material for the week, ask questions, network and support each other.

What we’ll explore…

The seven topics we’ll explore are:

Strengths and Values – what motivates me to run a heart-centered business and what personal strengths can I leverage to make the journey more easeful?

Entrepreneurship – an exploration of how to start a business, developing an online presence, networking, and languaging.

Self-Compassion and Support – how does the inner critic, scarcity and shame affect my ability to align with my vision?

Course Design – claiming creativity and exploring components of an effective training program.

Trauma-informed Practice – being trauma-informed in all aspects of my business from social media and online presence to how I price my programs and show up with others in community.

Culture and Inclusivity – exploring how assumptions can limit my ability to offer my gifts, and being aware of where my materials come from so that I can appropriately attribute.

Online Teaching – bringing together andragogy, technology and content to make online learning as accessible as possible.

Who you’ll work with…

Kristy Arbon will facilitate our explorations. Kristy has been successfully running her own heart-centered business for 5 years. She teaches self-compassion online and in person, mentors individuals and professionals in their self-compassion practice and teaching, trains meditation teachers, and writes articles to support the study and practice of mindfulness and self-compassion.

Kristy has created many online and in person training programs, and supports/is supported by a global community of self-compassion practitioners through her business, HeartWorks. The flagship program, Somatic Self-Compassion, is in its second year and has been offered online six times.

Kristy supported the development of the Center for Mindfulness Self-Compassion as the administrator of that fledgling non-profit and she also administered the membership phase of the Institute for Meditation and Psychotherapy. She was the manager at the Barre Center for Buddhist Studies for 5 years. Kristy is a certified Mindful Self-Compassion teacher who helped develop the Mindful Self-Compassion Teacher Guide and also adapted the MSC curriculum for the online environment. She has a passion for trauma-informed teaching.

Our online resources…

Our journey will be supported by an online home in PowerSchool Learning where we’ll keep articles, links, curated videos, video recordings of our Gatherings, and a discussion board.

Hour-long Gatherings will be held in Zoom each week. Gatherings will be recorded, so you can watch them at your leisure if you can’t make it to the Gatherings at the time they are occurring. You can also ask questions and contribute to the discussion board in your own time so that you can connect with community members.

When we’ll meet…

We’ll meet from 3-4pm US Central Time on Tuesdays each week between October 29 and December 10. Please note that the US moves out of daylight saving the weekend after we start, so if you’re not in the US, the time will change for you after our first Gathering. Here is a timezone conversion for our first Gathering, using the time on your computer:
